Directed by NAOKO TOSA, 花魁oiranをイメージした作品 日本の花魁を薔薇の花で表現した。華麗で儚い。気高いけれども脆い。気丈夫だけれども繊細。そういう日本人の女性親分としての心の動きを表現している。今も昔も女性リーダーの心の中は変わらないかもしれません。 I expressed Japanese Oiran with rose flowers. Brilliant and ephemeral. Noble but fragile. Strong but delicate. It expresses the movement of her heart as such a Japanese female boss. Even now and in the past, the minds of female leaders may not change. Naoko Tosa’s new series of works pays homage to Rimpa, one of the major historical schools of Japanese painting that was founded in Kyoto in the 17 th century. Famed for its usage of luxurious golden colour, one of its key exponents was the artist Korin Ogata, whose paintings of “Wind God and Thunder God” have become representative of the style. The fragmentation of flowers by the elements of wind and thunder serves an allegory for the fading of old customs and the beckoning of a new future.
